Are you eligible for publicly funded dental treatment from SA Dental?

Children – All babies, children and young people under 18 years who either live in or go to school in South Australia can attend one of SA Dental clinics.

Adults – All adults (18 years or older) who live in South Australia and hold a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card can attend one of SA Dental clinics.

Making an appointment with SA Dental

Would you like a free general dental check-up?

  • You can add your name to SA Dental waitlist for dental care by phoning your closest clinic.
  • The length of the waiting time can vary. When your name reaches the top of the waitlist, a letter offering dental care will be sent to the address you have provided.
  • Costs may apply for further dental treatment.

Have an urgent dental problem?

  • Please call SA Dental closest clinic for treatment or you may receive an Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS) form

To add your name to SA Dental waitlist for dental care you must meet the following criteria:

  • Live in South Australia
  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Have a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card in your name, and
  • It has been 12 months since your last SA Dental general course of care.

Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS)

Yellow Form

We’re here to assist you with urgent dental needs through the Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS). At our practice, we prioritize empathetic care tailored to your requirements.

What is the Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS)?

The EDS is meant for urgent dental treatments like addressing a broken tooth or toothache.

If you have an EDS form from SA Dental it is valid for only 7 days.

At your dental appointment:

> Bring your valid EDS form

> Bring in either a current Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) or a Health Care Card (HCC). Ensure the card is current and not expired.

> Bring in your $67 co-payment fee, payable on the day of treatment. For details on fees, refer to your form or contact us (08) 9080 5991

What if my EDS form is expired?

If your form has expired, treatment cannot be provided. You’ll need to return to the SA Dental clinic where it was issued. Once you have your yellow EDS form, contact us to schedule your appointment.

General Dental Scheme (GDS)

Grey Form

The General Dental Scheme offers general dental treatment to eligible patients. To learn more about this scheme and determine your eligibility, please contact your local SA Dental clinic.

Once issued, your GDS form remains valid for 4 months. Ensure you schedule your dental visit well before the expiration date. All treatments must be completed within 4 months from the issue date.

What treatments can you receive under GDS form?

The GDS covers most procedures for natural teeth, including Check-Ups, X-rays, Cleaning, Fillings, Extractions and Root Canals.

Booking Your Appointment

Simply call to book your appointment for necessary dental treatment and inform us that you have a GDS form. If you have any questions, our friendly staff can assist you at (08) 9080 5991.

At your dental appointment:

> Bring your valid GDS form

> Bring in either a current Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) or a Health Care Card (HCC). Ensure the card is current and not expired.

What if my GDS form is expired?

Treatment cannot be provided if you present an expired GDS form. Please return to the SA Dental clinic where the form was issued for further assistance.

Public Denture Scheme (PDS)

The Public Denture Scheme (PDS) offers support for denture repairs and new dentures to SA Dental eligible individuals. SA Dental may issue you with the PDS form.

Simply call to book your appointment for necessary dental treatment and inform us that you have a PDS form. If you have any questions, our friendly staff can assist you at (08) 9080 5991.

At the dentist, we’ll assess the repairs needed and inform you of any fees based on SA Dental’s schedule. Please note that some repairs may not be possible due to various reasons.

> Bring in either a current Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) or a Health Care Card (HCC). Ensure the card is current and not expired.

Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)

At Studio Dental Salisbury, we proudly support DVA card holders with exceptional dental care, recognizing their service and sacrifice to our nation.

Dental Services for DVA Gold Card Holders

DVA Gold Card holders benefit from fee-free dental services, including:

  • Fillings
  • Routine check-ups
  • Scaling and cleaning
  • X-rays
  • Root canal treatments
  • Crowns*
  • Dentures*
  • Implants*

*Certain conditions apply, and implants are covered in specific circumstances only. For details on your entitlements, please contact us or the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Do I Need a GP Referral?

No referral is needed from your doctor to schedule an appointment with our dentist.

During Your Appointment

Please bring your DVA card to each appointment. Our dentist will assess your clinical needs and provide necessary treatment covered under DVA benefits. After each session, your treatment claim is submitted electronically to DVA.

Child Dental Benefits Schedule

At Studio Dental Salisbury, we bulk bill basic dental services for children under the CDBS scheme.

To be eligible your child must be ALL of the following:

> 0 to 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year

> Eligible for Medicare

> Getting a payment from Services Australia (Centrelink) at least once a year, or have a parent, carer or guardian getting a payment from Services Australia at least once a year.

What’s covered

Medicare cover up to $1,095 over 2 calendar years for basic dental services under CDBS. The cap amount is indexed yearly on 1 January. The increase in cap amount will only apply to a child or teenager who received their first eligible service in that calendar year.

CDBS will cover services such as:

  • Check-ups
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure sealing
  • Fillings
  • Root canals
  • Extractions

CDBS will not cover the following:

  • Orthodontic dental work
  • Cosmetic dental work
  • Any dental services in a hospital
If you don’t use the full amount within the 2 calendar years, you can’t use the remaining funds. You’ll have to wait for a new 2 year cover period to start. You also won’t be able to use any remaining funds once your child is no longer eligible.
